BT finally take mobility seriously with EE 4G deal

I’ve had some insight into how BT develop products and also how they sign up partnership deals and there is something significant in the BT announcement of signing a wholesale deal with EE for supply of the EE 4G network.

Firstly if you look at what BT offer today in their managed mobility services, the lack of a very simple voice/sms and data mobile offer is glaringly obvious.  This has been a big whole in their portfolio and in fact I’ve seen BT loose managed outsourcing deals (or at least part of them) as a result of this gap.

But BT really seem to have their act together and the early announcement of the deal is testament to that.

I would expect to see BT FON, homehub/femtocell and quad play announcements follow quickly behind this. When BT release mobility news I am going to pay attention – they will be a real threat in the UK marketplace.
